Lab Testing

Lab testing is necessary to provide effective assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.

During our initial appointment, we review any recent testing from your MD and discuss what additional lab tests should be investigated, to provide you with the most effective care.

The labs I would suggest are dependent on you, your health concerns, and what has recently been tested by your MD.

Lab testing is done through Life Labs, however, requisitions from Naturopathic Doctors are not OHIP-covered. The average cost of initial lab testing ranges from approximately $100-$200. It can be claimed through your insurance benefits under your Naturopathic Medicine coverage.

I ask new patients to share any lab tests from their MD before our initial appointment, so I can review them and prepare for meeting with you.

Some of the labs I most commonly order to investigate your symptoms, and establish a baseline of health are:

TSH ◦ Free T4 ◦ Free T3 ◦ Anti-TPO ◦ Anti-TG ◦ TRAb ◦ Reverse T3 ◦ Vitamin D ◦ Ferritin ◦ Hemoglobin/CBC ◦ Iron Panel ◦ Vitamin B12 ◦ CRP ◦ ESR ◦ Fasting Insulin ◦ Fasting Glucose ◦ HbA1c ◦ Cholesterol Panel ◦ Liver Panel

If some of these have been recently tested by other healthcare providers, great! If not, we will discuss which tests would be most beneficial to ensure appropriate assessment, treatment solutions, and preventative medicine.
